New! Penn State World Campus Special Interest Course on Building Information Modeling

Course Number: AE 576

Building information modeling (BIM) has gained rapid interest in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. It has proven to reduce project schedules, avoid project cost growth, and improve the overall quality of facilities.

Many facility owners and developers require teams to embed BIM into their projects, yet there is a significant percentage of industry professionals who have limited BIM skills.

Penn State’s Department of Architectural Engineering, known for its BIM research and implementation, is offering a three-credit special interest course: Building Information Modeling and Execution Planning (AE 576). The course is available to everyone: Penn State students enrolled at all campuses including World Campus, students enrolled at other universities, and individuals who are not currently seeking a graduate degree or certificate are all welcome to enroll.

Who might be interested?

  • Professionals in the building industry working for designers, constructors, operators, or consultants
  • Building/infrastructure modelers seeking to expand their knowledge in life-cycle implementation
  • Software developers working on applications for the building industry
  • Any interested students enrolled in graduate programs in civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering; construction management; or architecture

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
